Gandhi jayanthi was celebrated on a grand scale under the auspices of NSS enlighting the need of public service. The volunteers started cleaning five different places. It was omanoor town, Homeo hospital, kacherithadam, Ponnad town, and primary health centre Ponnad. All groups reached the sites at 8 am and started the work under the leadership of a convener after registration. The weapons for cleaning was brought by volunteers. After completing the cleaning work at 10, all groups reached at PHC auditorium. After refreshment, inauguration ceremony started at 11.15. NSS captain Ashraf MP welcomed the programme; school principal,Sri. Saithalavi presided over the function. Medical officer of PHC Omanoor,Dr.Valsarajan inaugurated the function. Then VHSE Academic Head Smt.Bindu teacher felicitated.

There was a class on different topics in the morning session. At first NSS volunteer Mymoona presented a talk on “Gandhiji- Ever lightening memories”. Foujar introduced the class and Anju Radhakrishnan voted thanks. Then NSS Programme officer Sri.Abdul Muneer made a great talk on “Role of NSS in social enforcement”. His word touched all minds and made all members think about their duties in the society. Then the leaders of the groups spoke about their cleaning works. Muhsin, Musawir, Shareef, Fasalu Rahman and Reshma Aravind spoke. Febin Jasim introduced the class. Then Health Inspector Mr. Nasar Ahammed conducted the general talk on Adolescent education. He told about all the problems of the teenagers and need of neatness.Shareef was the introducer of the class. Some members presented songs after the class.

It was lunch break from 1.45 to 2.45. Food committee served lunch to all members. Then they cleaned the room. Afternoon session started at 2.45. Adolescent education class was continued for boys and girls separately. Nisha Madam (JPHN_ GVHSS Omanoor) took classes for girls and HI Mr. Nasar Ahammed for boys. Bincy was the introducer from girls part and Shareef from boy’s part. The classes were informative, many doubts were asked and they were cleared by them. Khairunnisa and Refeeque Hassan voted thanks to them. Food committee served tea.Fasalu Rahman introduced a video show on “Health Awareness”. The show was moderated by HI Praveen Sir. It was about “Impacts of narcotic drugs”. Praveen Sir spoke on the influence of drugs .In the feedback session, Thesnim and Anjali spoke about the programme, that it was very beneficial to them. NSS programme convener Muhsin voted thanks to all. The function concluded at 5 pm with National anthem.
